Grassroots support swells for Chime, as campaign train electrifies Enugu

The PDP governorship candidate in Enugu State, Mr. Sullivan Chime, has continued to receive tremendous supports from communities in the three local government areas in Enugu, the State capital.

In a tour of the Enugu metropolis which comprises the Enugu North, Enugu South and Enugu East Local Government Areas, the governorship campaign train set the capital city abuzz with a mammoth crowd of party supporters, school children and their teachers, members of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW), National Union of Local Government Employees (NULGE), trade unions and cultural groups surging forward to catch a glimpse of the governorship frontrunner.

Addressing the campaign rally at Enugu North and South Local Governments, the State Governor and leader of the party in the state, Chimaroke Nnamani, thanked the people for keeping the PDP controlled government in the State.

“I am in Enugu South today, first to thank you for all your support for the past eleven years in politics. We have been getting supports from Enugu South always, whether in CNC, UNCP and now in PDP. Enugu South has been giving us tremendous support”, he said.

While presenting the governorship candidate of the party, Mr. Sullivan Chime, to the people, Governor Nnamani appealed to them to give him and all the party’s candidates the needed support so that PDP would continue to form the government in the State.

In Enugu North and East local government areas, the State Chief Executive noted that most of the development projects executed by his administration were in those two local governments and thanked them for their commitment to the party and his administration.

“We need your support to win the forthcoming general election. We thank our members for their supports. The bulk of our projects are located in Enugu North: the Tunnel, Teaching Hospital, International Conference Centre and Judicial Headquarters, among others” the governor said further.

Governor Nnamani told the people that the PDP controlled government in Enugu State had the interest of the people at heart, adding that all unfulfilled promises by his administration would be completed by Mr. Chime on assumption of office.

In his speech, the PDP Governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Chime, promised to give priority attention to urban road maintenance and reconstruction and improving on the present security situation in the state, if voted into office.

“In Enugu State, I will assure you that in the next one year, the streets will change. Our agenda is to ensure that Enugu will be a very safe haven for us here and for our brothers and sisters who stay outside the State,” Chime said.

The Governorship candidate promised to provide an enabling environment for the promotion of legitimate businesses in the state and ensure gainful employment for the youths.

In his words, “We have our youths who will be gainfully employed. We will provide enabling environment for all sorts of legitimate businesses to flourish in the state”.

Mr. Chime, who thanked the people for turning out en-masse to received him and the leadership of the party in the state, appealed to them to give him their votes in the forthcoming general elections.

According to him, his government, like that of Dr. Nnamani’s, would continue to seek power to seek power to do good to our people if voted into office.

The Chairman of the Party in the State, Chief Oyioha Nwanjoku, in his remarks, told the people that the party would ever remain focused and committed to the welfare of the people.

The governorship campaign train paid the traditional homage to Igwe V. V. Chukwuegbo of Amechi Uwani and Igwe Michael Oko Maduekwe of Ogui Nike.

The highlight of the campaign rally was the presentation of the traditional “ofo” which serves as symbol of authority to Mr. Chime by Igwe Maduekwe and the elders of Nike town in Enugu East local government Area..
