Nnamani salutes PDP national chairman

The Governor of Enugu State, Dr. Chimaroke Nnamani has described the National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Senator Dr. Ahmadu Ali as a distinguished personality, who had brought his wealth of experience and good leadership to bear on the unity and growth of the party as a family.

Governor Nnamani stated this while speaking at a grand reception organized in honour of the conferment of the chieftaincy titles of Asiwaju Aja Jagunmolu of Egbaland on Senator Dr. Ali and the wife, Dr. (Mrs.) Mariam Ali as Erelu Asiwaju Jagunmolu of Egbaland, held at the Valley View Hall, Government House, Abeokuta, Ogun State, recently.

Governor Nnamani enjoined Senator Dr. Ali to use the honour as an opportunity to be reinvigorated and re-energized towards rendering greater service to the continued growth of PDP in particular and the country at large.

He congratulated Dr. Ali and the wife Mariam for the honour which he noted, was a deserved recognition for hard-work, excellence and selfless service to humanity.

In his speech, Governor Bukola Saraki of Kwara State, congratulated Senator Dr. Ali and the wife Dr. (Mrs) Mariam for the honour and urged them not to relent in promoting good governance and democracy in the country.

Responding on behalf of Senator Dr. Ahmadu Ali’s family, his son, Prince Mamman Nasir Ali thanked the people of Egbaland and Ogun State Government for the great honour done the family.

Earlier, the Alake of Egbaland, His Royal Majesty, Oba Michael Gbadebo had conferred on the PDP National Chairman, Senator Dr. Ali the chieftaincy title during a colourful ceremony held in his palace at Abeokuta.

Oba Gbadebo said the title was in recognition of Senator Dr. Ali’s outstanding contributions to the socio-economic and political growth of the country.

He prayed God to continue to enrich Senator Dr. Ali with wisdom and strength to render greater service to the nation, decorated and presented him with the paraphernalia of the title including a black cap, good walking stick, gold sword and a certificate of recognition.

The Alake of Egbaland also conferred on the wife of Senator Dr Ali, Dr (Mrs.) Marian the chieftaincy title of Erelu Asiwaju Jagunmolu of Egbaland in recognition of her contributions to humanity.

The Oba decorated and presented her with a gold hat, staff and certificate and urged her to sustain the spirit of selfless service.

Earlier in a citation, a member of the Oba's cabinet, Chief Kesha Adebola had described the PDP National Chairman, Senator Dr. Ahmadu Ali as a distinguished military officer, astute administrator and professional physician whose contributions had continued to impact positively on the nation.

Shortly after the conferment of the chieftaincy title on him, Senator Dr. Ahmadu Ali and his wife, Marian went round acknowledging cheers from important dignitaries and associates including the Governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani.

The ceremony attracted distinguished personalities from within and outside the country including Governor Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State, Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State, Governor Ibrahim Idris of Kogi State and Governor Olusola Saraki of Kwara State. Others were Deputy Governors, National Assembly members, Ministers, renowned politicians, PDP stalwarts and a delegation of the Enugu State Executive Council, House of Assembly, Chairmen of Local Government and women group in the entourage of the State Governor, among others.

Highlight of the occasion was entertainment by the various cultural groups and live musical bands which virtually turned the arena into a cultural carnival.
