Nigerian engineers laud Nnamani on projects |
| - The Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE) Enugu branch, has commended the state governor for his landmark achievements in the areas of infrastructural development, capacity building and welfare of the people. The state chairman of the society, Dr. Nwosu Obasi, who gave the commendation
when he led members of his executive on a courtesy visit to the Government
House, Enugu, stated that through massive and innovative infrastructural
development, the governor had brought a lot of changes in the landscape of
the state, thereby making the state a tourist attraction to visit. "We are pleased to acknowledge the realization of virtually all your
projects, which include the ESUT permanent site, ESUT Teaching Hospital,
Enugu House Abuja, Ebeano Housing Estate, International Conference Centre,
Ebeano Tunnel, Lorna Linda Housing Estate and the Judiciary Headquarters,
among others, which are enduring legacies that may be difficult to surpass
in near future," Engineer Obasi stated. He thanked the governor for employing the services of their members in the
execution of projects in the state and pledged their readiness to render
more services whenever they were needed. Dr. Obasi told the governor that after the assessment of senior engineers
from their national headquarters and their satisfaction, Enugu was thus chosen
as the venue of the 2009 national conference of the society. Engineer Obasi said that the theme of the Society's Annual General Meeting
(AGM) for 2006 was "Impact of Power Supply on the National Development." He stated that the above theme was necessitated by the invaluable role that
power supply plays in any nation.
"A nation's strength and weaknesses can only be assessed by the abundance
and quality of power generated to sustain various development projects," The chairman requested, among other things, provision of accommodation and transport for their special guests to the AGM and the Governor's assistance during the N100m (One Hundred Million Naira) fund raising for the development of an engineering center in Enugu that would serve as their corporate headquarters in the South East Zone.
