Nnamani wants increased capacity building for Airforce
November 15, 2006

The Governor of Enugu State, Chimaroke Nnamani, has stressed the need for continued human capacity building in the Nigerian Air Force.

Speaking when he received the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Paul Dike in his office, Governor Nnamani said that this was very necessary so as to ensure an improvement in their present standard and keep them at par with their colleagues in the developed world.

The Governor noted that the Nigerian Air Force is made up of professionals in various skills of human endeavour and professional officers but pointed out that capacity building was necessary to help improve on their combat readiness and effective discharge of their duties.

He commended the Chief of Air Staff for his contribution towards improvements in the service delivery of the nation's Airforce since assumption of office and urged him not to relent in his efforts.

The State Chief Executive described members of the Nigerian Air Force as role models who had contributed in no small way in midwifing the nation's democracy.

Governor Nnamani also noted with satisfaction the excellent relationship existing between the government and people of Enugu State and the Nigerian Air Force over the years.

This, he said, resulted in the establishment of the Air Force Comprehensive Secondary School in the state by the State Government, the reactivation of the 305 Helicopter Training School, as well as useful counseling and contributions in security matters in the state by the Air Force.

He therefore pledged his government's commitment to continue to treat them as an integral part of the state and provide the needed assistance to enable them discharge their duties.

Earlier in his address, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshall Dike, had told the Governor that he was in the state in continuation of his familiarization inspection of Air Force formations and establishments.

The Chief of Air Staff commended the long-standing cordial relationship between Enugu State and the Nigeria Air Force which he said had been improved upon by the Governor on assumption of office.

He therefore thanked the Governor for his assistance to what he called "the Air Force family", both financially and morally and appealed to him to continue so that the relationship will grow from strength to strength.
