November 2, 2006

Governor Chimaroke Nnamani has described the death of Dr. Mrs. Nnenna Mgbor in the ill-fated ADC plane that crashed last Sunday at Madaki village near Abuja as a great loss to her family and Enugu State.

Governor Nnamani, who was speaking when he paid a condolence visit to the family at their Enugu residence, described the late Dr. Mrs. Mgbor as an excellent physician who had rendered selfless service to humanity over the years.

He also described the deceased as a hardworking and humble physician who contributed to the “health of our children and women” as well as in medical research and clinical services.

“I have great respect for her, her carriage, her poise, her humility, never complaining, ever working very very hard. It is a great loss to myself as a person, to Enugu State and to her family”, he stated.

The State Chief Executive said that the state would identify with her burial programme and prayed God to grant her soul eternal rest, while giving her family the fortitude to bear the loss.

“We continue to cherish her memory and by the grace of God we will contribute to whatever efforts that will be put in place as a symbol of the role she played in Enugu State, he said further.

Governor Nnamani used the occasion to restate his heart-felt condolences, on behalf of himself, his family and the entire people of Enugu State, to the families of other victims of the air mishap.

Until her death, Dr. Mrs. Mgbor was a consultant in the Department of ENT of the University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu, and wife to Dr. Samuel Mgbor, the Medical Director of the popular Hansa Clinic, Uwani, Enugu.
