|
An atmosphere of gloom surrounded the Mgbor family residence of Enugu at the high brow Independence Layout as dignitaries from all walks of life, including the governor of the State, Chimaroke Nnamani, worshiped during a christian wake for Late Dr. (Mrs) Nnenna Mgbor, who died in the ADC plan crash. Dr. Nnamani had led some members of the State Executive Council to the service. In a homily, the Parish Priest of The Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Independence Layout, where the Late Mrs. Mgbor was an active parishioner, Rev. Monsignor Anthony Anijielo, preached about God's love for mankind and temporary nature of life. The cleric stated that this love of God was manifested in Jesus Christ who was born in a manger and to redeem mankind with His blood. He added that nothing should separate man from this love made visible by Christ. Monsignor Anijielo also said that the late Dr. (Mrs) Mgbo's humility knew no bounds and said, "in spite of her prominence in the secular world, she identified herself with church functions. She was a lay-reader as well as an ardent parishioner. Nnenna's true home is in heaven." The Parish Priest prayed that those who died in accidents may have peace and eternal rest in heaven. The Late Dr. (Mrs) Nnenna Mgbor was a consultant Ear Nose and Throat Specialist at University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital (UNTH), Enugu. Late Dr. (Mrs) Mgbor was a daughter of the late frontline nationalist, Mazi Mbonu Ojike. She met her untimely death at the age of 48 in the ill fated ADC Sokoto-bound flight at Abuja. In a vote of thanks on behalf of the Mgbor family, her husband, Dr. Samuel Mgbor, thanked the sympathizers for all their support and solidarity which he described as a soothing balm to the family He specially thanked Governor Nnamani, the Vice Chancellor of University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN), Prof. Chinedu Nebo and Bishop Emmanuel Chukwuma of the Anglican church, Enugu. "This bereavement is a big blow to the family. Your support has been a soothing balm and I have to accept the inevitable and have also learnt a big lesson of life, that is, no one knows when death will come," Dr. Mgbor said. Dr. Mgbor also said that his wife was a saint who was always prayerful even till the day that she went on a journey that she did not return. He also described his wife as an adhesive that bound his family together. |
