Governor Chimaroke Nnamani of Enugu State has described
the falsely claimed withdrawal of the security details of the person
and office of his Deputy,
His Excellency, Chief Okechukwu Itanyi, as one other calculated
attempt by frustrated and swift-dealing politicians to convey their failure
and
irrelevances in the Enugu political environment.
Stating firmly that no such action was ever considered, let alone undertaken,
by the Government of Enugu State, he dismissed the development as mere media
bickering, well-rehearsed pandering to falsehood, disrespect for order and
recourse to siege mentality, which failed politicians in the State are known
for.
Confirming that the police and other security details due the office and person
of the Deputy Governor are fully in place, not being consideration for any
form of adjustment and so cannot be in view of any total withdrawal, he advised
such politicians to be gallant losers, who pursue peace and orderly transition
as currently in the air.
According to Governor Nnamani, "it is only the warped mind of
political opportunists that would fail to appreciate the constitutional
provision
which form the foundation of rights and privileges of the Office of
the Deputy," who, he argued, "by
the virtue of that office is entitled to effective security details
for functionality and promptitude to issues of State as so provided
or assigned
by the Executive
Governor."
Apparently amused, but sympathetic that in this display of laziness
at appreciating the Constitution of the Federal Republic by politicians,
he further stated, "these
disgruntled politicians equally resort to shallow appreciation of
the rules of public service, appealing only to sentiment, to seize
an opportunity
of relevance in any event of mere
or routine civil public service postings."
Suggesting that his government would not condescend to trading arguments
with those he described as "politicians without mere ward foundation, he said, "the
Enugu State Government will continue in its resolute disposition never
to join issues with disgruntled politicians, who may have seen in the
unfolding political
ambitions of individuals, the opportunity to direct blows borne of
individual frustrations and irrelevance in the Enugu political environment."
Governor Nnamani said that for a long time, he "very much appreciated
the variety of individual political ambitions of citizens, including that of
His Excellency, Okechukwu Itanyi," whom he added, had never been
deliberately or accidentally discomfited in expressing such personal
ambition in the
over seven years he operated in the capacity of the Deputy Governor
in Enugu State."
