Police IG scores Enugu high on Security

The Inspect General of Police, Mr. Sunday Ehindero, has expressed satisfaction with the level of peace and order in the South-East Zone and in Enugu State in particular.

The Inspector General of Police who made the observation when he paid a courtesy visit to the State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani, commended the Governor for the excellent security arrangements put in place in parts of the state.

According to the police boss, "I must say that I am happy at the state of law and order in the South-East; we have graduated from the state where we had almost disorder to a state where we have got an equilibrium."

Mr. Ehindero used the occasion to thank Governor Nnamani for his continued assistance to the Nigerian Police in general and Enugu State Command in particular, adding that this had helped the Force in the effective discharge of their duties.

"I want to thank you most sincerely Your Excellency for your assistance at all times to the Nigerian Police Force" the police boss said.

He told the Governor that he was in Enugu on his way to Anambra State to assess the security situation and monitor how law and order were being maintained.

Mr. Ehindero, also presented to the Governor a magazine which he said described the paradigm sheet in the Nigerian Police Force.

Receiving the IG, Governor Nnamani acknowledged his excellent role not just in the Police Force but also in the areas of jurisprudence and constitutionalism which he noted had helped to equip him for his job.

Governor Nnamani said: "I acknowledge the role you have played in not just in the Police Force but in academia of this country, your role in jurisprudence, constitutionalism and active duty in the past twenty years has equipped you to meet the demand of the position of the Inspector General."

The State Chief Executive praised Mr. Ehindero for his dedication to duty and reforms introduced in the Force, adding that this had no doubt helped in repositioning of the Nigerian Police for better.

The Governor specifically mentioned the high level of sensitization and awareness in the areas of community policing, right of citizens, fair play and equity.

He described the relationship between the Nigerian Police and the people of Enugu State as excellent and commended the AIG in-charge of Zone 9, Mr. John Ahmadu, and the State Commissioner of Police, Mr.Charles Daudu, for their commitment to the maintenance of law and order and general security in the State.

He also described Mr. Daudu as a rare asset to the State and the Force, pointing out that the veritable partnership between the State and the police led to the donation of about 30 vehicles and communication equipments to the State Command recently for effective discharge of their duties.
