Nnamani gets commendation from Enugu Assembly |

The Enugu State House of Assembly has passed a motion of commendation to the State Governor, Chimaroke Nnamani, for what the legislative body described as his prudent and efficient implementation of this year’s state budget. The House also resolved to present a certificate of commendation to the governor for adhering to the budgetary provisions in the execution of programmes and projects contained in the budget, while urging the people of the state to continue with their support and loyalty to the State Chief Executive. In a motion sponsored by Honourable Ofor Chukwuegbo and unanimously adopted by the 24-member body, the legislator cited the prudent financial allocations and strict adherence to sectoral and sub-sectoral ceilings provided in the State Economic Empowerment and Development Strategy (SEEDS) document, adding that it had ensured that quality programmes mapped out in the SEEDS were implemented. He observed that the implementation of the budget based on priority demand had made noticeable improvement in the quality of life and wellbeing of the people of Enugu State. Hon. Chukwuegbo further told his colleagues: “you all can give good testimonies of all these monumental achievements, that during our last tour to various state government projects in the state by the Honourable Speaker and the entire members of the Enugu State House of Assembly, that everyone gave kudos to the level of infrastructural development in the state, even when compared with the amount appropriated in the budget and the meager federal government allocations to the state”. He listed some of the projects as the ESUT permanent site, ESUT Teaching Hospital and College of Medicine, dualized Chime Avenue and Rangers Avenue, the multi-auditoria international conference center, the 324 flats Loma Linda housing estate, the magnificent Enugu State Liaison Office building in Abuja, the ultra modern State Judiciary Headquarters, and the construction of the first road tunnel in Nigeria. Others were the construction of cottage hospitals at Obimo and Afor in Udenu council area, Aku in Igboetiti council area, Ogbaku in Awgu council area, reconstruction of Achara Layout road network, and the electrification of numerous rural communities, amongst others. |
