DAY 1 OF PRESIDENTIAL VISIT TO ENUGU STATE:. The people of Enugu State trooped out in their thousands to give President Olusegun Obasanjo a rousing welcome as he commenced a 2 day working visit to Enugu State today (February 7, 2005). The president who flew into the Akanu Ibiam Airport Enugu directly from Zambia visited the State to commission, inspect and flag off a number of projects including the federal government funded Enugu Water Augmentation Scheme at Oji River, and other 9 completed and on-going projects of the Chimaroke Nnamani administration. At the ESUT Teaching Hospital the President expressed the hope that it would be "an epitome of healthcare delivery" as well as "a reference point in the annals of teaching hospitals in Nigeria", while at the International Conference Centre, he confessed that the host Governor had sprung many surprises on him. He also commisioned the Golf Housing Estate and the Chime Avenue dualization project as well as flagged off the New Haven/Independence Layout link road. See pictures below.
